Mike is an experienced and knowledgeable litigator who has assisted his clients in a broad range of disputes.

Mike’s practice is varied and diverse and includes company, commercial, real estate, employment, construction, and wills and estates disputes.  He has appeared before all levels of court in British Columbia.  He has also appeared in various administrative and regulatory tribunals (both provincial and federal).

Mike understands that every client is different, and every case is unique.  He prides himself in applying his broad knowledge and experience to assist his clients in developing creative legal solutions.

Phoenix Homes Limited v. Takhar2023 BCSC 184.  Acted for a number of defendants in a lengthy and complex company dispute involving allegations of breach of fiduciary duty, theft of corporate opportunity and self-interested party transactions.

Grewal v. Grewal2022 BCSC 784.  Successfully opposed an application to remove a certificate of pending litigation from title to a family home.

Canadian Ramgarhia Society v. Panesar, 2022 BCSC 751.  Successfully petitioned the court in a complex registered society dispute for orders that the Civil Resolution Tribunal not adjudicate five actions brought against a religious society by certain of its members.

Chriscan Enterprises Ltd. v. St. Pierre2016 BCCA 442.  Represented a successful appellant in overturning a court judicial review order that set aside an arbitration order on the bases of alleged cause of action estoppel, issue estoppel and abuse of process.

Shariff v. VI Fitness Centres Inc.2016 BCSC 2037.  Successfully opposed a company application to move a petition proceeding alleging shareholder oppression to the trial list.

MCAP Service Corporation v. Chichak2015 BCSC 1514.  Successfully opposed an application to approve a sale of a home in circumstances that would have left certain creditors unpaid.

Global Chinese Press Inc. v. Zhang2015 BCSC 874.   Successfully applied to vary a worldwide freezing order against a defendant affected by, but not named in that order.

Metro-City Projects Inc. v. All Star Excavating Demolition Ltd., 2014 BCSC 2139.  Successfully opposed an appeal of a trial judgment and application to admit new evidence on appeal.

Conconi Developments Ltd. v. DR4 Developments Ltd.2014 BCSC 1101.  Successfully applied for a stay of a court action in favour of arbitration.

Acted in various corporate matters involving derivative claims, oppression proceedings, corporate winding-up and liquidation proceedings.

Acted for individuals in various wills and estate matters involving claims of lack of mental competency, undue influence, duress and wills variation.

Acted for construction companies and property owners in various Builders Lien Act and construction disputes.

Acted for employers/employees in various employment matters, including wrongful dismissal, unjust dismissal, unpaid wage and human rights claims.

Acted in various trade-mark infringement actions.
